About A Basket of Words

Welcome to A Basket of Words! My name is Taylor and I am a Canadian girl living in Tokyo, passionate about books and the written word. I am the person behind A Basket of Words

I have been passionate about books and the written word for as long as I can remember. An advanced reader from an early age, my appetite for books has always been endless. I tend to read across most genres, but fantasy, science fiction, and “life stories” are usually where my interest remains the strongest – in both Japanese and English. On this blog, you will find reviews of such books. Translated fiction, especially from Japanese, and books across the genres written originally in both Japanese and English will be present. Manga or comic reviews may also occasionally appear!

Unless otherwise stated, books reviewed on this blog will be ones that I have purchased myself or borrowed from the library. Advance copies and review requests are welcome, but I reserve the right to refuse if I believe a book will not be to my taste. I will also not be posting negative reviews on my blog. I also do not provide rated reviews – my reviews are descriptive in nature. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, please feel free to contact me and we can work out the details together.

I also periodically do quality assurance for translated manga and write English education books targeting Japanese learners of English. If that is something you are interested in learning more about, you can check out my portfolio here.
